Why work at NTA?
NTA takes pride in the reputation that we’ve established with our clients: sound advice, quality work, and relationships built on mutual respect and trust. We are always looking for talented, committed individuals that live by these values to join our firm.
We’ve asked our team to share with you, in their own words, what it is that they enjoy most about working at NTA. Here’s what they had to say.
Community
It’s a great group of people to work with. There’s a palpable atmosphere of comraderie and respect that makes me enjoy coming into the office each day.
–Alison Charboneau, CA
We’re a close-knit group of people. At the risk of sounding corny, it’s like another family.
–Brent Sutherland, CA Student
Work / Life Balance
NTA lets me schedule work around my life. We put in tremendous effort during peak periods, but we get to bank those hours for the summer and holidays. The priority is that the work gets done; no one is clocking the hours that you sit at your desk.
–Kurt Hamilton, CA
NTA’s downtown location is so accessible. With the Skytrain close by, it’s easy to get into work from my home in Burnaby.
–Michelle Pondiche, CGA Student
Innovation
I’m always learning at NTA. One innovation that I enjoy is our paperless office, which was introduced in 2006. It took some time to get used to, but it’s wonderful how everything is scanned in and at your fingertips now–hardly any scrounging around in file cabinets these days.
–Debbie Babcock, Accountant
Client Interaction
I’m not stuck doing tax or audit all the time. You get to do everything. Personally, I’ve been exposed to many industries and styles of business, from mining firms to non-profits to doctors’ offices.
–Tom Hamer, CGA
The environment here lets me work with a degree of autonomy that I find freeing. I get the chance to leave my own mark on client engagements while still benefiting from productive feedback from management and peers.
–Alex Lam, CGA Student
The ranch clients that I work with are terrific: they’re nice, down-to-earth people. I also look forward to each year, in February, when I get to visit our base of legal clients and help them prepare their financial statements.
–Debbie Babcock, Accountant
Learning Environment
Because we work so collaboratively, learning new things feels less like mentorship and more like teamwork. Everyone contributes to the lessons learned and does a better job next time.
–Brent Sutherland, CA Student
I like that you work directly with the partners or someone senior to you. Everyone is approachable and that’s an advantage; you gain a lot of experience with that day-to-day interaction.
–Edward Chan, CA Student

Tom Hamer obtained his CGA designation with NTA.
